Carl Cox’s USB album

The wait is finally over as Carl Cox confirms his new artist album ‘All Roads Lead to the Dancefloor’ will be released this summer exclusively through his own independent label Intec Digital. Intec will be presenting the album in three phases taking advantage of never-before-seen USB technology – offering far more than a conventional album ever could or ever has.

Recorded over the last year in Carl’s Melbourne studio ‘All Roads Lead to the Dancefloor’ showcases a range of styles across its 20+ tracks including Vocal House, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Latin and of course Techno. “This album is aimed purely at the dancefloor,” says Carl. “Every track should be a winner too as I’ve been road-testing and remixing them to make sure they really do work.”

Even more excitingly, Intec have created a whole new concept around the release; “You pay the one price for the one product,” explains Carl. “And the USB will not only give you the album, but it’ll also be your key to everything I do in the next 12 months or so.”

The USB interface is essentially a website home page but most features will not require it to be connected to the web, making it usable on the train, in flight, in remote locations etc. Buyers will be able to stream, as well as download the album & remixes, they will have access to the entire Intec Digital catalogue, access to Carl’s latest four Global radio shows, exclusive videos & Carl Cox news.

With this new USB interface new content can be added to the USB sticks, even after they have been purchased. These content additions are set to include a vast range of continually added features including access to additional album remixes, exclusive sets recorded from Space Ibiza, video interviews & behind the scenes video footage from Carl on tour, and access to LIVE (Realtime) video streams from Carl’s gigs. The USB also includes video DJ tutorial and tips and tricks when it comes time for sound check.

As Carl explains: “I’m asking people to buy the USB, and I’m promising that with the singles, the videos, the actual album, plus all the extras – they won’t be disappointed. I didn’t want to just put it online and let that be that. I’ve spent too long on it, and it’s too important to me to be degraded that way. I wanted to do something special with this release, something really forward thinking, and I think we’ve achieved it.”

The campaign will see the music behind ‘All Roads lead to the Dancefloor’ released along side its many extras over three separate phases:

Phase 1

August 8th: The USB is made available with first single ‘Family Guy’ – a 10 minute slice of techno with remixes from Layo & Bushwacka and Jon Rundell. It will also include the first taste of the album with 12 tracks + B-sides and exclusives.

Phase 2

September 26th: 2nd single is made available – a vocal dubstep mix of ‘Nexus’ with remixes and video

October 17th: complete album made available

October 31st: 3rd single ‘Chemistry’ is released with remixes and another video

Phase 3

Ongoing updated with LIVE footage of gigs as well as footage from rehearsals, on the road and on stage  on his first live tour in Australia. “We’ve already trialled it a couple of times here in Melbourne and I’m pleased to say it worked,” says Carl. “These shows will be a mix of both DJing and performing, which will be a challenge. But I’ve never taken the easy option. I take pride in that.”
